Emergency Responder Death Benefits (ER)

Emergency Responder Death Benefits, governed by s. 960.194 of the Florida Statutes, provides financial assistance to the surviving spouse, children, parents or guardian, or siblings of a deceased emergency responder who is killed while answering a call for service in the line of duty. Applications are filed through the responder’s employer who verifies that at the time of the crime, the victim was in the line of duty as an emergency medical technician, paramedic, firefighter, or law enforcement officer. The Schedule of Benefits identifies the amount available for each claim.
